Did you know that the fashion industry is one of the most water-intensive sectors in the world? According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation report A New Textiles Economy (2017), the textile industry consumes approximately 93 billion cubic meters of water annually—enough to fill over 37 million Olympic-sized swimming pools!

Beyond sheer volume, fashion plays a major role in global water stress. It accounts for 2% of freshwater consumption worldwide and is responsible for 20% of water pollution due to toxic dyes, chemical treatments, and textile waste. Moreover, synthetic fabrics release microplastics that end up in our oceans, worsening the environmental crisis.
